From One Mom to Another

I know what it’s like to eat breakfast for lunch and play dolls with a toddler while breastfeeding a newborn baby, all while wondering where the heck the hours in the day have gone.

During mat leave with my first child I thought I could figure out this postpartum fitness thing for myself. Think Billy Blanks’ Tae Bo kickboxing, and jumping jacks and running at the local park. I was a fit person, went to the gym often, so I thought I knew what I was doing. Which was a mess because it left me feeling worse in my lady parts, and left me experiencing urinary leakage that wouldn’t quit, and I had no idea what to do about it.

This is why I created FitTritious with a desire to empower moms through the pre-conception, prenatal and postpartum pregnancy journey.


Fitness & Nutrition Credentials

As a certified personal trainer specializing in pre and post natal moms, I have learned what exercises to do and not to do while pregnant and during postpartum recovery. (ie: jumping jacks = more leakage, and abdominal  crunches = more of a pooched out belly so just don’t do them after baby)

I’m also a prenatal yoga instructor, which totally takes the pressure off during pregnancy. There’s nothing quite like yoga and exercise to take away the aches, pains and upper back stress that an extra 25 pounds or more baby weight puts on a woman’s body.

Finally as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N) from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, I can offer advice on what food and supplements you need for a healthy pregnancy.

What I Can Offer You

Whether you are new to fitness and exercise, or you’ve been a gym goer for years, pregnancy and having a baby changes you and your body, and your exercise needs to be safe for you and baby.  The truth is that many personal trainers aren’t educated to train a pregnant or postpartum mom safely, which can exacerbate pregnancy and postpartum related problems and even cause more damage to your changing body. What you need is a trainer who is qualified (that’s me!) who will tailor your efforts in a way that’s right for you and your body to optimize strength for labour and birth and optimal postpartum recovery.

I offer a variety of programs that cater to three different groups of women on their pregnancy journey’s:

1. Pre-Baby Mamas – women looking to build a healthy and strong body before conception to have a strong base for pregnancy.
2. Pregnant Mama – women who want to fight off illness, aches and pains and have an overall enjoyable and healthy strong pregnancy.
3. New Mama – women who want to fit into those skinny jeans and build the fit mom-body they desire in a healthy way.

As a busy mom myself, I know that it’s not easy to raise a family, work full time (in or out of the home) take care of the home, and have time to keep fit and provide nutritious meals for the whole family. That’s why my programs are so unique; they are made for moms with busy lives who don’t want to, or can’t leave their home to get into great shape, or leave their own kitchen to learn how to prepare food nutritiously and deliciously.
